Creating a Minimalist Home: Day 3 – Bookshelves

Don’t get me wrong… I love libraries and sliding ladders (hello… Beauty and the Beast 🥀), opening up an old book, and spending a cozy winter evening cuddled up by the fire with a novel….  But isn’t the purpose of having books is so that they are read?

Love this bookshelf by Structube!

Day 3 of the Minimalist Home Challenge is reading between the lines of our bookshelves. If you’re ready to let go of some of your books (and/or old textbooks), try using this flow chart to help you decide which ones to keep and which ones to donate.

If you really loved a book, but still wish to bid it farewell, try a book exchange with your friends and family! For your old textbooks, some colleges and universities will buy back your books to sell as used to other students (decluttering and making money? sign me up!). You can also use some books as decor to help tell a colour story on your shelves.

What books made it back onto your bookshelf?

See you tomorrow for Day 4!
